I love midi dresses. Like, love them.
A midi dress is a dress whose length hits midway between the knee and ankle (mid-calf). Hence the name, “midi.”
I think they’re feminine and flirty while still being every bit of appropriate. You can wear them to work, on a date, to church or to brunch. The possibilities are endless.
The dresses I have featured here cinch in at the waist to create more of an hourglass figured. I have always had curves in my hips, so the silhouette of these midi-dresses flatters my curves in the best way.
Dress #1 is from Free People. It can be found here or here. I picked mine up at Macy’s during their Friends & Family sale. Note: Free People items rarely go on sale on their site but third-party retailers (i.e. Macy’s or Nordstrom Rack) often carry them at a discounted price. I always ask if my coupon will apply or if there are any pre-sales. That is a great way to save 25-30% off of your Free People goodies. I snagged this beauty for less than $50. #Winning
Dress #2 is from Target. You read right, Tar-jay. They were having a buy one, get one 50% off sale on all dresses and jumpers so I ordered this one as well as a few others. The regular price of this dress was only $29.99 (which is still a great deal) but if I can save extra bucks off of that price, even betta!
Dress #3 is another Target winner (unfortunately, it’s sold out). I had fun pairing this with flats or sandals because the cotton material is easy to dress up or down. I went up a size so it didn’t hug too much across my mid-section. (I can now eat in peace and not have to suck my tummy in.) Tie a denim shirt around your waist or add a camo jacket to switch up the style and give you more options.
The beauty of midi-dresses is that they work for just about every season. Bay Area weather is meant for layering. Easily transition into cooler seasons by adding a moto-jacket, denim jacket or a bootie to your favorite dress. You’ll be ready for a day strolling the city or brunch with your BFF’s.

Love this look! Think it could work on your shorter chunkier sands?
Absolutely. Just have to be careful on where the waistband hits. You might do better with a midi-dress that doesn’t cut in as much 🙂
