Most of us have experienced a short-lived Fall and jumped straight into Winter. I’m talking dropped temperatures, cozy sweaters and dustings of snow. Outside of the temperature, rich plaids are additional indicators that winter is right around the corner. You see it in scarves, sweaters, skirts and more! I’m rocking my plaid in styles appropriate for work, family gatherings or a fun evening with friends.
I started with this plaid and striped sweater from Asos.com. I paired it with a Ponte knit, black skirt (on sale now!) from Banana Republic and finished the look with one of the season’s top shoe trends, white booties. They were also from Banana Republic but are now sold out. I’ve recommended similar styles here. This sweater has a slightly oversized fit so you can easily wear it over a button-up shirt for a cute layered look. I’ve also rocked it with ripped, black jeans and a wide-brimmed hat. The options are endless! Totally worth the purchase because I can wear it multiple ways this season and next.
I also grabbed this Sanctuary plaid dress from Macy’s (on sale now!). The tie in the front makes it unique and puts a new twist on your regular plaid dress. While I paired it with brown boots, I’ve also worn it with black tights and black ankle boots for the colder days.
I bought a size large because of the hip/thigh coverage but that also made the top fit a bit bigger than I planned. Since I tend to eat a bit more around this time of the year, the extra room works out just right.
Now that you’ve seen a couple of my seasonal favorites, I want you to find some of your own. As always, I’ve included some recommendations of great plaid fashions to get you through this winter season:
- Plaid Dress – this has a subtle print and will be ideal for an office setting. Pair it with tights and tall boots or ankle boots. Add a leather moto jacket to toughen it up a bit.
- Plaid Coat – want to incorporate plaid into your everyday style? This coat is a great way to stay stylish and while on the go.
- Plaid V-neck Sweater – This is great for everyday wear. Pair it with ripped-knee skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots for a casual style that is taken up a notch.
- Plaid Shirt – Here is a cute, everyday style for my ladies who have an abundance of love to give. Wear it with a jean skirt, tights and ankle booties to give it more style.
- Plaid Booties – who says your plaid can’t be on your feet? Pair these cute booties with plain black, denim-on-denim or your favorite sweater dress. They’re on sale so snack them while you can!
- Plaid Cardigan – buffalo plaid is always a yes! Pair this cardigan with jeans and casual sneakers for a cool, casual style that works for running errands or meeting up with friends.
